How to Fluff Your Christmas Tree

An artificial tree fresh out of its box often has slightly compressed branches. A few minutes are all it takes to bring back its full volume.

Step 1: start from the bottom

Unfold the branches on the lowest level first, working from the trunk outward. Move up level by level.

Step 2: separate each branch individually

On each main branch, spread out the smaller secondary branches to create volume and hide the central trunk.

Step 3: alternate the angles

Point the branches up, down and to the sides in an irregular way: this is what gives the most natural look, just like a real tree.

Step 4: step back

Regularly step back to spot any areas that are still too compact or any gaps in the foliage.

Allow 15 to 30 minutes for a medium-sized tree the first time: in following years, the process goes much faster.
